Pastor Andrew K Tyson (Pastor Andy)  EMAIL andrewktyson@yahoo.com

Andrew Tyson (Andy) was born in Harlingen, Texas to a well read Librarian and a Methodist preacher/missionary/teacher. The missionary family of nine lived all over the world and America.  Andy learned quickly to “move with the tide.”  He also learned firsthand that education was a privilege.  After graduating high school in the Northeast, he attended Albright College, Reading PA and received his undergraduate degree in Independent Studies combining religion, political science, psychology and sociology.  Continuing more classes in an attempt to study law, his transcript showed he was taking more classes in theology and the scriptures rather than the law.  Andy graduated in 1982 from seminary at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas.  He was now a Preacher just like his Dad!

Rev. Andrew K. Tyson (Pastor Andy) was appointed Sr. Pastor of Canyon Lake United Methodist Church June 30, 2013.  During the past 30 years he has served Texas Methodist churches in Eagle Pass, Odem, Pleasanton, Wimberley, Floresville and Hondo. Pastor Andy’s' first passion is “Preach’n and Pastor’n.” His love of most any kind of music is unmistakable.  He makes room in his life for music concerts, festivals, listening to cd’s, singing and falling to sleep with music in the background.   His Mother taught him the joys of reading, and as a result he is an avid reader.

Growing up in a missionary family, Pastor Andy came to know the church as his extended family.  The other missionaries were his aunts, uncles and cousins.  He continues to see the church as his extended family where its members encourage, build up and nurture one another for the sake of making disciples for Jesus Christ… in the community and… around the world.Pastor Andy’s office door is open to anyone and his phone is always on.  Call or come visit an easy going, storytelling disciple of Jesus Christ.  We hope to see you in church.

Amy McClung - Rev. Amy McClung Associate Pastor  Rev. Amy McClung graduated from Marbles Falls High School in 2003 and went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Religion Studies from the University of Oklahoma in 2007.  In May 2011 Amy proudly received her Masters in Divinity from Perkins School of Theology, after which she was appointed as the Associate Pastor of  CLUMC. Amy recently bought a new house in Canyon Lake and now calls the Lake her home. She is happy to have her degree and to be part of CLUMC. The staff and members of CLUMC are also pleased to have Rev. Amy as our Associate Pastor.

Her parents, Mike and Kim McClung live in Marble Falls and visit Canyon Lake whenever possible. Her older sister, Melanie, works as a civilian for the Navy in Indiana and her younger sister, Kristina, works for Walt Disney World every opportunity she gets. Stop by and visit Amy. She's young and ready to serve where ever God leads her. CLUMC Welcomes Amy McClung!

Sharla Mullen, Finance Secretary  Sharla Mullen was born in Slaton, Texas and raised on a cotton farm in Lubbock County.  Her career began as an accounting clerk with Aetna Insurance Company. She moved to San Antonio in October, 1988, where she served as Office Manager and assistant to the Director of Marriott Facilities Management at Wilford Hall at Lackland AFB and serving on the USAF Safety Committee.

Sharla began her life at Canyon Lake UMC when her family joined the church in June of 1997.  In June of 2000 she began assisting as part time Finance Secretary to the Treasurer.  Seven short months later, she took on the additional role as Children’s Program Director, where her two children, Chris and Kaci were active in several church programs.

Serving on the Council of Children's Ministries with the Southwest Texas Conference four years, she brought valuable information from other Methodists churches back to the local church for program growth and revitalization of the children’s programs.

In June 2005, she substituted the role of Children’s Program Director for Office Administrator, until January 2007, when she reverted back to her original part time position of Finance Secretary.

To say her tenure at Canyon Lake UMC has gone full circle would not be the full story.  The full story is that she has had the flexibility with her various positions within the church to fulfill her number one priority – her job of being the mother to the two best kids in the world.

Sandy McLeod - Wesley Nurse sandra.mcleod@mhm.org  Sandy Mcleod the Wesley Nurse:   Born in 1940, my dad was in “THE WAR” and severely injured, spending at lot of time recovering at Brooke Army Medical Center.

As a small child we traveled on the train from Ardmore OK., to San Antonio, TX to see my dad.  At the age of 3, I marched around my grandmother’s house proclaiming that when I grew up I was going to be an Army Nurse.  Needless to say I fulfilled that proclamation by spending 20 years and 24 days in the Army.  I took too much time in becoming a Wesley Nurse, around forty years.  But I did not spend all this time in the wilderness.  The variety of sick and injured patients I cared for added to my experience.  So I hope with all my heart that the experiences of my past will aid me in serving this congregation and community.

If you need assistance navigating around the health care system, or have some health care questions or concerns, please come in and see me.  I am located at the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church M-TH 8-4, and Friday 8-1200 noon.  Call the Church and ask for the Wesley Nurse.  I’ll be there for you.

Laura Hill - Laura has served at CLUMC since February 2005. Born in Houston, she and her family moved to Soda Springs, Idaho when she was nine years old.  The daughter of missionary parents, Laura grew up on the mission field. A classically trained vocalist and actress, Laura's musical and theatrical abilities helped her to carve a niche for herself in the hearts of the predominately Mormon community. She later attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri majoring in Church Recreation and minoring in Music and Psychology.  Laura then returned to Idaho where she served simultaneously as Youth Director for Calvary Baptist Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho and as Associational Youth Director for East Idaho Baptist Association for many years.   Laura and her son, Elijah, returned to Texas in 2003 to be near her parents who had retired to this area.  Laura enjoys the outdoors, toobing and sharing her faith. Look for her on the road in her silver Jeep!

Chris Mc Neil - Methodist Day School Director  Chris Mc Neil loves children!  With 35 years teaching all age groups in public and Christian schools she says, “Pre-school is the foundation of positive learning.” She started teaching at Canyon Lake United Methodist Church Mother’s Day Out (MDO) program in 2002 and accepted the Directors position, fall of 2011. During the summer she also volunteers’ at CLUMC Vacation Bible School.  Born and raised in New Braunfels, Texas, Chris knows many families in Comal Co. and considers it a privilege to now teach the children of the ones she taught many years ago. “I enjoy and look forward to helping each child grow and learn on their level.” She and her husband live at Canyon Lake and spend week-end time with their 3 grown children and 3 teenage grandchildren. Chris finds a few hours in the week relaxing doing: sewing, gardening and bowing. Her office door is always open and she looks forward to parent/grandparent visits. Please stop by to see her Mon. or Wed. or call the church office to make an appointment.

Pianist/ Choir Director
Lisa Davis
Chancel, Women, Men and Bell Choirs

Lisa Davis grew up in Poteet UMC where she took her first leadership roll in charge of Vacation Bible School music at the age of 12 and soon took over the youth choir as well.  This helped lead her to Texas State University where she graduated with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education.  She has taught general music and choir for 9 years in Comal ISD and is currently the K-5 music specialist at Johnson Ranch Elementary in Bulverde.  Lisa has spent many summers earning additional certifications in vocal and instrumental music and is currently working on a Masters of Music in Music Education at Texas State.  She has been a member of CLUMC since August 2000 and has gradually taken on more roles in the music program as a choir member, flautist, handbell ringer, pianist, vocal soloist, choir director, and since January 2009 as Director of Music Ministries.   Lisa loves her musical family here, feels blessed to worship God through His gift of music, and is thankful to be a part CLUMC.     musicalisa@yahoo.com
