After having been appointed to churches in Staples, Buda, Palacios, San Antonio, Nixon-Smiley, Corpus Christi, Lockhart and Kingsville, Jeanette and Clint retired in 1993 after more than forty years as members of the Southwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church Methodist Church. Clint joined the staff of Canyon Lake United Methodist Church January 1, 2007.

Clint's favorite past time outside the church is working as a volunteer at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, especially for the San Antonio Symphony series. In addition to his responsibilities as Associate Pastor, both he and Jeanette are voracious readers are strong supporters of the Duke Blue Devil basketball program and the San Antonio Spurs. Clint especially is an avid tennis fan

Clint describes himself as an unreconstructed Tar Heel with his feet firmly planted in Texas.

Amy McClung - Intern Associate Pastor   Amy McClung graduated from Marble Falls High School in 2003 and earned a Bachelor's in Religious Studies from the University of Oklahoma in 2007. From there she enrolled in Perkins School of Theology and has completed three years of course work. She is working towards her Masters in Divinity. Amy looks forward to spending July 2010-11 at Canyon Lake United Methodist Church. On her days off she enjoys exploring the area.

Her parents, Mike and Kim McClung live in Marble Falls and visit Canyon Lake whenever possible. Her older sister, Melanie, works as a civilian for the Navy in Indiana and her younger sister, Kristina, works for Walt Disney World every opportunity she gets.

Stop by and visit Amy. She's young and ready to serve where ever God leads her. CLUMC Welcomes Amy McClung!

Jane Kuyrkendall - Secretary  Jane has been active in the church and the church office since she and her husband, Gene, moved permanently to their lake-area home after she retired as the office manager of the American Heart Association, Capital Area Division, in Austin. She is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm. She welcomes your calls, visits and the opportunity to help you in any way she can. Jane coordinates the “Front Desk Volunteers” – office helpers who give their time and talents to serve wherever needed on a regular or “on-call” basis. Anyone interested is cordially invited to contact her.

Sharla Mullen, Finance Secretary  Sharla Mullen was born in Slaton, Texas and raised on a cotton farm in Lubbock County.  Her career began as an accounting clerk with Aetna Insurance Company. She moved to San Antonio in October, 1988, where she served as Office Manager and assistant to the Director of Marriott Facilities Management at Wilford Hall at Lackland AFB and serving on the USAF Safety Committee.

Sharla began her life at Canyon Lake UMC when her family joined the church in June of 1997.  In June of 2000 she began assisting as part time Finance Secretary to the Treasurer.  Seven short months later, she took on the additional role as Children’s Program Director, where her two children, Chris and Kaci were active in several church programs.

Serving on the Council of Children's Ministries with the Southwest Texas Conference four years, she brought valuable information from other Methodists churches back to the local church for program growth and revitalization of the children’s programs.

In June 2005, she substituted the role of Children’s Program Director for Office Administrator, until January 2007, when she reverted back to her original part time position of Finance Secretary.

To say her tenure at Canyon Lake UMC has gone full circle would not be the full story.  The full story is that she has had the flexibility with her various positions within the church to fulfill her number one priority – her job of being the mother to the two best kids in the world.

Sandy McLeod - Wesley Nurse sandra.mcleod@mhm.org  Sandy Mcleod the Wesley Nurse:   Born in 1940, my dad was in “THE WAR” and severely injured, spending at lot of time recovering at Brooke Army Medical Center.

As a small child we traveled on the train from Ardmore OK., to San Antonio, TX to see my dad.  At the age of 3, I marched around my grandmother’s house proclaiming that when I grew up I was going to be an Army Nurse.  Needless to say I fulfilled that proclamation by spending 20 years and 24 days in the Army.  I took too much time in becoming a Wesley Nurse, around forty years.  But I did not spend all this time in the wilderness.  The variety of sick and injured patients I cared for added to my experience.  So I hope with all my heart that the experiences of my past will aid me in serving this congregation and community.

If you need assistance navigating around the health care system, or have some health care questions or concerns, please come in and see me.  I am located at the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church M-TH 8-4, and Friday 8-1200 noon.  Call the Church and ask for the Wesley Nurse.  I’ll be there for you.

Lori Maus - Children's Program Director  Lori was born and raised in Austin, Texas.  After high school, she moved to San Marcos to attend college.  At that time, it was called Southwest Texas State University.  Now it’s known as Texas State.  She received a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.

Immediately after graduation, she went to work as a Medicare Compliance Analyst at a home health agency in Austin.  She then moved back to San Marcos to take on the job of Marketing Manager at McCoy’s Building Supply.  She worked there for seven years until her first child, Larissa, was born in June of 2004.  At that time, she and her husband decided that being a full-time mom was the best thing for their family.  She stayed home with Larissa until after her first birthday.  At that time, Lori became the children’s director.  In May of 2006, her family became complete when Nathan was born.

Lori has been married to her wonderful husband since 2003.  Together, they enjoy traveling, boating on Canyon Lake and spending time with other young families.  Lori considers herself to be truly blessed by the Lord to have such a wonderful family and to be associated with a church as personally fulfilling as Canyon Lake United Methodist Church.

Laura Hill - Youth Director  Laura has served at CLUMC since February 2005. Born in Houston, she and her family moved to Soda Springs, Idaho when she was nine years old.  The daughter of missionary parents, Laura grew up on the mission field. A classically trained vocalist and actress, Laura's musical and theatrical abilities helped her to carve a niche for herself in the hearts of the predominately Mormon community. She later attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri majoring in Church Recreation and minoring in Music and Psychology.  Laura then returned to Idaho where she served simultaneously as Youth Director for Calvary Baptist Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho and as Associational Youth Director for East Idaho Baptist Association for many years.   Laura, her husband, Dennis, and their son, Elijah, now five, returned to Texas in 2003 to be near her parents who had retired to this area.  Laura enjoys scary movies, parties, the outdoors and rediscovering Texas after all these years.

Shirley Funderburgh - Methodist Day School Director  has 32 years of experience in early education and has been the director of Methodist Day School since 2007.  She has been director of three church sponsored programs and two privately owned Christian schools.  She has taught preschool for over eight years and believes that preschool education will lay the foundation for success in kindergarten and beyond.

Pianist/ Choir Director
Lisa Davis
Chancel, Women, Men and Bell Choirs

Lisa Davis grew up in Poteet UMC where she took her first leadership roll in charge of Vacation Bible School music at the age of 12 and soon took over the youth choir as well.  This helped lead her to Texas State University where she graduated with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education.  She has taught general music and choir for 9 years in Comal ISD and is currently the K-5 music specialist at Johnson Ranch Elementary in Bulverde.  Lisa has spent many summers earning additional certifications in vocal and instrumental music and is currently working on a Masters of Music in Music Education at Texas State.  She has been a member of CLUMC since August 2000 and has gradually taken on more roles in the music program as a choir member, flautist, handbell ringer, pianist, vocal soloist, choir director, and since January 2009 as Director of Music Ministries.   Lisa loves her musical family here, feels blessed to worship God through His gift of music, and is thankful to be a part CLUMC.
