Andrew K Tyson (Pastor
Tyson (Andy) was born in Harlingen, Texas to a well read
Librarian and a Methodist preacher/missionary/teacher.
The missionary family of nine lived all over the world
and America. Andy learned quickly to “move with the
tide.” He also learned firsthand that education was a
privilege. After graduating high school in the
Northeast, he attended Albright College, Reading PA and
received his undergraduate degree in Independent Studies
combining religion, political science, psychology and
sociology. Continuing more classes in an attempt to
study law, his transcript showed he was taking more
classes in theology and the scriptures rather than the
law. Andy graduated in 1982 from seminary at Perkins
School of Theology, Southern Methodist University (SMU)
in Dallas, Texas. He was now a Preacher just like his

“Preach’n and Pastor’n.” His love of most any kind of
music is unmistakable. He makes room in his life for
music concerts, festivals, listening to cd’s, singing
and falling to sleep with music in the background. His

up in a missionary family, Pastor Andy came to know the
church as his extended family. The other missionaries
were his aunts, uncles and cousins. He continues to see
the church as his extended family where its members
encourage, build up and nurture one another for the sake
of making disciples for Jesus Christ… in the community
and… around the world.Pastor Andy’s office door is open

Mullen, Finance Secretary Sharla
Mullen was born in Slaton, Texas and raised on a cotton farm in

Insurance Company. She moved to San Antonio in October, 1988, where
she served as Office Manager and assistant to the Director of

she took on the additional role as Children’s Program Director,

- Wesley Nurse
the Wesley Nurse: Born in 1940, my dad was in “THE WAR” and
severely injured, spending at lot of time recovering at Brooke
Army Medical Center.
As a small
child we traveled on the train from Ardmore OK., to San Antonio,
TX to see my dad. At the age of 3, I marched around my
grandmother’s house proclaiming that when I grew up I was going
to be an Army Nurse. Needless to say I fulfilled that
proclamation by spending 20 years and 24 days in the Army. I
took too much time in becoming a Wesley Nurse, around forty
years. But I did not spend all this time in the wilderness.
The variety of sick and injured patients I cared for added to my
experience. So I hope with all my heart that the experiences of
my past will aid me in serving this congregation and community.
If you need
assistance navigating around the health care system, or have
some health care questions or concerns, please come in and see
me. I am located at the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church
M-TH 8-4, and Friday 8-1200 noon. Call the Church and ask for
the Wesley Nurse. I’ll be there for you.
Hill - Laura has served at CLUMC since February 2005. Born in
Houston, she and her family moved to Soda Springs, Idaho when she
was nine years old. The daughter of missionary parents, Laura
grew up on the mission field. A classically trained vocalist and
actress, Laura's musical and theatrical abilities helped her to
carve a niche for herself in the hearts of the predominately Mormon
community. She later attended Southwest Baptist University in
Bolivar, Missouri majoring in Church Recreation and minoring in
Music and Psychology. Laura then returned to Idaho where she
served simultaneously as Youth Director for Calvary Baptist Church
in Idaho Falls, Idaho and as Associational Youth Director for East
Idaho Baptist Association for many years. Laura and her son, Elijah, returned to Texas
in 2003 to be near her parents who had retired to this area.
Laura enjoys the outdoors, toobing and sharing her faith. Look for
her on the road in her silver Jeep!
