her Masters in Divinity from Perkins School of Theology, after which
she was appointed as the Associate Pastor of CLUMC. Amy
recently bought a new house in Canyon Lake and now calls the Lake

staff and members of CLUMC are also pleased to have Rev. Amy as our

Jane

and her husband, Gene, moved permanently to their lake-area home
after she retired as the office manager of the American Heart
Association, Capital Area Division, in Austin. She is available
Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm. She welcomes your calls,
visits and the opportunity to help you in any way she can. Jane
coordinates the “Front Desk Volunteers” – office helpers who give
their time and talents to serve wherever needed on a regular or
“on-call” basis. Anyone interested is cordially invited to contact
her.
Sharla
Mullen, Finance Secretary Sharla
Mullen was born in Slaton, Texas and raised on a cotton farm in
Lubbock County. Her career began as an accounting clerk with Aetna
Insurance Company. She moved to San Antonio in October, 1988, where
she served as Office Manager and assistant to the Director of
Marriott Facilities Management at Wilford Hall at Lackland AFB and
serving on the USAF Safety Committee.
Sharla began her life at Canyon Lake UMC when her family joined the
church in June of 1997. In June of 2000 she began assisting as part
time Finance Secretary to the Treasurer. Seven short months later,
she took on the additional role as Children’s Program Director,
where her two children, Chris and Kaci were active in several church
programs.
Serving on the Council of Children's
Ministries with the Southwest Texas Conference four years,
she brought valuable information from other Methodists churches back
to the local church for program growth and revitalization of the
children’s programs.
In
June 2005, she substituted the role of Children’s Program Director
for Office Administrator, until January 2007, when she reverted back
to her original part time position of Finance Secretary.
To
say her tenure at Canyon Lake UMC has gone full circle would not be
the full story. The full story is that she has had the flexibility
with her various positions within the church to fulfill her number
one priority – her job of being the mother to the two best kids in
the world.

Sandy McLeod
- Wesley Nurse
sandra.mcleod@mhm.org
Sandy Mcleod
the Wesley Nurse: Born in 1940, my dad was in “THE WAR” and
severely injured, spending at lot of time recovering at Brooke
Army Medical Center.
As a small
child we traveled on the train from Ardmore OK., to San Antonio,
TX to see my dad. At the age of 3, I marched around my
grandmother’s house proclaiming that when I grew up I was going
to be an Army Nurse. Needless to say I fulfilled that
proclamation by spending 20 years and 24 days in the Army. I
took too much time in becoming a Wesley Nurse, around forty
years. But I did not spend all this time in the wilderness.
The variety of sick and injured patients I cared for added to my
experience. So I hope with all my heart that the experiences of
my past will aid me in serving this congregation and community.
If you need
assistance navigating around the health care system, or have
some health care questions or concerns, please come in and see
me. I am located at the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church
M-TH 8-4, and Friday 8-1200 noon. Call the Church and ask for
the Wesley Nurse. I’ll be there for you.
Laura
Hill - Youth / Children Director Laura has served at CLUMC since
February 2005. Born in Houston, she and her family moved to Soda
Springs, Idaho when she was nine years old. The daughter of
missionary parents, Laura grew up on the mission field. A
classically trained vocalist and actress, Laura's musical and
theatrical abilities helped her to carve a niche for herself in the
hearts of the predominately Mormon community. She later attended
Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri majoring in Church
Recreation and minoring in Music and Psychology. Laura then
returned to Idaho where she served simultaneously as Youth Director
for Calvary Baptist Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho and as
Associational Youth Director for East Idaho Baptist Association for
many years. Laura, her husband, Dennis, and their son, Elijah, now
five, returned to Texas in 2003 to be near her parents who had
retired to this area. Laura enjoys scary movies, parties, the
outdoors and rediscovering Texas after all these years.

each child grow and learn on their level.” She and her husband live
